Starting with Chef on GCP

When getting started with Chef on Google Cloud, I wanted to see what was on Learn Chef Rally. The instructions had steps using the graphical dashboard, but I prefer to use the command-line, and so this is what I found…

First to get started, you need to setup Google Cloud SDK, see this article for instructions:

Once setup once you have this setup, you can now create a simple instance for a web service:

This will create a minimal virtual instance, we install Chef and test a simple cookbook.
